When’s the last time you thought about the spare tire in your trunk? It’s with you everywhere you go. It’s there on every errand, every road trip, every commute, and you never give it a second thought. It just rides along, ignored, until the moment you desperately need it. Then suddenly it’s the most important thing in the world.
A lot of us treat prayer the same way. It’s always available. God is always near. But we go days, sometimes weeks, without really turning to Him, until something goes wrong. Then we remember we have a spare. But God never designed prayer to be emergency equipment. He designed it to be the engine. It’s not what we reach for when everything else fails. It’s how we were meant to move through every single day.
