What You Find Here
Every post is written to help you abide more deeply in Christ and live more faithfully in the life He has planned for you.
Faith
Honest reflections on what it means to walk with God through the ordinary and extraordinary moments of life.
Leadership
The real challenges of leading with integrity, vision, and faith. For pastors, ministry leaders, and anyone who leads people.
Crisis and Recovery
Whether you are navigating a community tragedy or a personal crisis, these posts — and the book that grew out of them — will help you lead with hope when everything feels uncertain.
Rooted in the Vine
The name View from the Vine comes from the words of Jesus in John 15:5 — “I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.”
When you are connected to the Vine, the view changes. You begin to see life, people, and circumstances differently. You bear fruit you could not produce on your own.
This is not a blog written from the top of a mountain or from a place of having everything figured out. It is written from the branches — by a pastor still growing, still learning, and still utterly dependent on the One who sustains it all. Whatever brought you here, I hope something you find on these pages helps you abide a little more deeply in Him.

When Crisis Comes, Leaders Need an Anchor Point
On April 17, 2013, the West Fertilizer Plant exploded and changed our community forever. In the years that followed I learned what it truly means to lead people through the unimaginable. Anchor Point is the book that grew out of that experience.
Written for pastors and ministry leaders, it is a practical, hope-filled guide for navigating disaster with faith, wisdom, and resilience. If you lead people and you want to be ready for whatever may come, this book was written for you.
“God is a very present help in time of trouble — and He is looking for leaders who will trust Him enough to prove it.”
John W. Crowder
